Journey of Faith and Fellowship: Pilgrimage to Church of the Holy Name of Mary, Permatang Tinggi

On Sunday, 6 July 2025, a group of our parish youth embarked on a meaningful pilgrimage to the Church of the Holy Name of Mary in Permatang Tinggi. The pilgrimage was not only a journey of spiritual renewal but also a day filled with beautiful moments of fellowship, prayer, and shared joy.

Our day began at 8:45 AM, as all participants gathered at our church for a headcount and final briefing. Before setting off, we prepared a special gift for the youths at Permatang Tinggi—flower bouquets lovingly arranged and paired with handpicked Bible verses, offered as a gesture of love, encouragement, and unity in faith.

At 9:30 AM, we departed by carpool and arrived at the Church of the Holy Name of Mary around 10:15 AM. We were warmly welcomed and soon joined the congregation in celebrating Holy Mass, presided over by Father Victor Louis—a familiar and beloved figure who once served as our parish priest. It was heartwarming to reconnect with him and share fond memories of his time with us.

After Mass, we had the opportunity to meet the youth members of the host church. Each of them received a flower and Bible verse, symbolising our shared belief and encouragement in Christ. We then introduced ourselves and enjoyed a lively and meaningful interactive session—an opportunity to build new friendships and strengthen our bond as one community of faith.

Light refreshments, including warm porridge and drinks, were generously prepared by the host church. With grateful hearts, we thanked the larger group, though a few of the core youth members from Permatang Tinggi continued the day with us.

Together, we headed to a nearby park, where we shared lunch, played games, and continued our joyful fellowship. One of the highlights was a surprise birthday celebration for one of our youths, adding even more smiles and laughter to the day.

By 3:00 PM, we concluded our time at the park and made our way back to NBVM Church. As we reflected on the day, it was clear that this pilgrimage was more than just a visit—it was a journey of connection, shared faith, and heartfelt joy.

We are truly grateful for this memorable experience. May this be the first of many more pilgrimages as we continue to grow together in faith and unity. (NBVM Tamil Youth)
