Mandarin CCR (北海圣母圣诞堂圣神同祷会)
The Catholic Charismatic Renewal at the Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary is a dedicated community and revival founded in 1993 by Rev. Fr. Murphy Pakiam. Our core mission is to bring parishioners together in communal prayer to experience the filling of the Holy Spirit, thereby manifesting God’s glory and power.
We aim to foster a sacred space where the faithful can seek divine guidance. This space is sustained by personal and communal prayer, as well as ongoing spiritual formation. We have a steadfast commitment to cultivating the fruits of the Holy Spirit and advancing on the path to sanctification, which leads to profound personal and communal renewal and growth.
Our foundational belief is rooted in the biblical promise of Christ: “For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them” (Matthew 18:20). This promise fuels our gatherings, which are structured to be both spiritually enriching and a source of deep community.
We invite you to experience the Holy Spirit through prayer, worship, and fellowship. Our prayer meetings are held on the Thursday following the 2nd and 4th Sundays of each month at 8:30 PM in Room 1 of the Parish Activity Center. All are welcome to come and be renewed in the Holy Spirit. The gatherings follow a structured flow that includes:
* Praise and worship
* Sharing of the Gospel or the Word of God
* Reflection
* Healing prayer with the laying on of hands
* Personal testimonies
* Intercessory prayer
Through these practices, members have shared powerful testimonies of faith transformation, physical healing, and family reconciliation, serving as a testament to the Holy Spirit’s work within our community.
The Catholic Charismatic Renewal is also actively engaged in inter-parish training and provides services to other parishes upon invitation.
Our group is committed to the principles outlined in 1 Corinthians 14, with a core belief that “all things should be done for building up” (1 Corinthians 14:26). Our guiding scripture, “Pursue love, but strive eagerly for the spiritual gifts” (1 Corinthians 14:1), encapsulates our dual focus on cultivating Christian love while remaining open to the gifts of the Holy Spirit for the edification of the Church.
