It All Comes Down to Love
In today’s Gospel, Jesus gives us only two commandments (Matthew 22:37–40):
“You must love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.”
“You must love your neighbour as yourself.”
If only we truly loved, the world would be heaven on earth! There would be no wars, poverty, hunger, pain, devastation or haze!
It all comes down to love.
Richard Rohr, explains that we love God because God first loved us. One way we can love God is to love what God loves-which is everything and everyone. We learn to love people for who they are, not for what they can do for us; we stop making ourselves the centre of everything and learn to love and forgive even our enemies, as Jesus did.
“In the end, we are all going to be judged on how we loved.” – Richard Rohr
