Am I Saved?
We all long to be loved in a way that doesn’t give up on us. A love that stays, even when we are difficult, distracted, or tired. A love that keeps showing up, even when we stop trying.
There are moments when life feels quiet. Our prayers feel dry, our hearts feel numb. We still go through the motions of church, family, and work, but somewhere deep inside, we start wondering if God still sees us.
Maybe we used to feel close to Him once. Maybe there was a time when we prayed easily, when faith felt alive and joyful. But now it feels harder. The world got louder. Our responsibilities grew. The small fires of our faith, once bright and sure, now flicker quietly under the weight of routine and weariness.
And yet, even in that quiet, He is still there. Not waiting for us to perform or prove anything, but simply waiting for us to look up.
Sometimes we think of God as far away, somewhere beyond the clouds. But the truth of the Gospel is much closer. He came into our mess, not into perfection but into poverty and pain. He came to walk our roads, touch our wounds, and show us what love looks like when it bleeds.
That is what still catches me by surprise. The love of God is not fragile. It doesn’t run when we fall. It doesn’t hold back when we doubt. It doesn’t leave when we fail. It steps closer, right into the rubble, and starts rebuilding.
Maybe that is what the cross really means. Not a story of guilt or punishment, but a story of presence. A story that says, “Even here, even now, even in this, I am with you.”
Sometimes we forget that faith is not only about believing in God’s power, but also about trusting in His love. Power can impress us, but love transforms us. Power can command, but love invites. It asks for our heart, not just our obedience.
And love, when it is real, changes everything.
It teaches us to forgive even when we are still hurting. It reminds us to stay when walking away would be easier. It turns ordinary moments, like shared meals, laughter, and quiet prayers before sleep, into holy ground.
Faith does not always look like a miracle. Sometimes it looks like a tired parent still showing up for their family. Sometimes it is a friend who listens when they have nothing left to say. Sometimes it is you, still holding on when you do not know why.
That is grace. Not loud, not dramatic, just steady.
If you ever feel that God has grown distant, remember this: He is closer than you think. He is in the breath you just took, in the person sitting beside you, in the quiet tug in your heart that still hopes for something more.
We spend so much of life searching for meaning, purpose, and love, when in truth, Love has already found us. It never stopped coming. It has been here all along, whispering in every sunrise, in every act of mercy, in every moment you choose hope instead of despair.
And maybe that is the invitation today: to pause, breathe, and remember the Love that stayed.
The One who has always been beside you.
And still is. (BV)
Prayer
Lord, thank You for never giving up on me. Even when I drift away, You remain close.
Help me to see Your presence in the quiet, to find You in the ordinary, and to trust that Your love is always enough.
Teach me to love others with the same patience and grace You show me every day.
And when my heart grows weary, remind me that You have never left my side. Amen.
