Throwback April: Perjalanan Salib at NBVM/ SCIC

The Perjalanan Salib 2025–2026 is a national journey of the Catholic Church in Malaysia. It commenced with the solemn blessing of the Salib during the Malaysian Catholic Youth Day in April 2025 and will culminate at the Malaysian Pastoral Convention in September 2026.

Over these 18 months, the Salib will journey from parish to parish across all nine dioceses in Malaysia, fostering unity, communal discernment, and a truly synodal spirit while celebrating the rich cultural diversity of our Church.

Our parish received the Salib on Saturday, 11 April, from the Church of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, Kulim. Throughout the week, various ministries gathered in prayer to venerate the Salib and, as a community of faith, offer prayers for the intentions of the Church in Malaysia.

During its stay in our parish, all parishioners were warmly invited to make a pilgrimage to the House of St. Joseph, Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary (NBVM), to venerate and pray before the cross.

On 26 April, during the 11.00 a.m. Mass, our parish handed over the Salib to representatives from the Church of the Holy Name of Jesus, Balik Pulau.

While the Salib continues its journey to the next parish, our own journey towards the Malaysian Pastoral Convention continues. As a Church, we are called to be renewed in Christ, walking together in faith, hope, and mission. (KA & SR)
