Street-Misssion Butterworth: Put Out into the Deep

On 22 February after the Street Mission along the CIMB and Maybank, the volunteers met up for a short sharing at St. Joachim’s Room.

Sr Fatima’s sharing centered on Luke 5:1-11- in the story that where Jesus asks Peter to put out his nets into the deep to get a better catch. Sr Fatima explained that Jesus took notice of the Peter and the boat while preaching by the shore. It was a surprise for Peter and the rest when Jesus got into the boat. Despite being a skilled fisherman, Peter obeyed Jesus. Similarly in our lives, Jesus may come as surprise and ask us to go into the deep and trust him.

“We are called to obedience. As Street Missionaries, we are to attentive to the voice of God, obedient to the word of God and He will multiply and make the harvest plenty. We have to trust the Lord and He will make it fruitful. Street Mission is a spiritual mission- we are giving Jesus to others. We must bring out the Jesus in us. “

Sr Fatima shared that she met a homeless man on the street and if the Street Mission had a home, we could have given him a shelter. She said “we will need to look for a place to provide better care for the homeless”. Street Mission volunteers are seeking a rental space to establish a consistent shelter and meal service for the homeless.SR
