Senior Citizens Learn How to Use Social Media
On Saturday, 16th July 2022, 10 active senior citizens participated in a Workshop with the aim of bridging the digital gap, coordinated by Florence Johnson and assisted by the NBVM youth.
The main goal of the workshop was to guide the attendees to use social media to spread the Word and keep up with the church updates. The session which was about an hour focused on Facebook. The seniors were delighted to be able to create and utilize a Facebook account and were excited to connect with people through social media.
Most of the seniors felt isolated during the pandemic as they were not as tech savvy as the younger generation. Now they are able to connect with their friends and family who may be far away. The team hopes to have more sessions on a variety of other digital apps such as Grab, Touch&Go eWallet, Shoppe and Food Panda which can be a necessity especially as these are apps that can help them be independent.(by Nikeisha Marien)
