NBVM Novena Day 10 : Mary, Queen of Peace

As we celebrate the final day of the 10-Day Novena Feast of our Blessed Mother Mary, the Church’s readings this Sunday offer a timely reflection on mercy, forgiveness, and reconciliation. In the first reading, Sirach reminds us to let go of anger and resentment, while the Gospel presents the Parable of the Unforgiving Servant, where Jesus teaches that those who have received God’s mercy are called to extend that same mercy to others. These readings challenge us to examine our hearts and become instruments of God’s peace in a world often marked by division and conflict.

In Mary, Queen of Peace, we find a perfect example of a heart free from bitterness and fully surrendered to God’s will. Throughout her life, Mary responded to suffering, uncertainty, and even the sorrow of standing beneath the Cross with faith and trust rather than anger or resentment. Because she welcomed God’s mercy so completely, she became a channel of peace for the world. Her gentle presence among the disciples after Christ’s Resurrection helped unite the early Church in prayer, hope, and love. As our heavenly Mother, she continues to lead us toward reconciliation with God and with one another.

As we conclude this novena celebration, we are invited to follow Mary’s example by embracing forgiveness, healing broken relationships, and placing our trust in God’s mercy. In our families, communities, and parish, we are called to be peacemakers who reflect the love of Christ to others. May our Mother Mary, continue to intercede for us, guiding us closer to her Son and helping us build a culture of reconciliation, unity, and lasting peace. (EV)
