Walking Together in Faith and Hope
On 9 October 2025, thirty-one parishioners from the Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary and St. Chastan & Imbert set out early in the morning for a one-day pilgrimage with the theme “Walking Together in Faith and Hope.” The journey was organised by the Senior Citizens Ministry under the care of Mr. Stephen Francis, and it became a day filled with reflection, friendship, and prayer.
Their first stop was the Church of the Assumption, where the group was warmly received with breakfast. They were given an introduction to the church’s long and meaningful history, which many found fascinating. It was a reminder of how faith has taken root in our land and grown through the years. The visit continued at the Diocesan Museum and Art Gallery, where the pilgrims explored the heritage and stories of the local Church through sacred art, photographs, and artefacts. Many said it deepened their sense of connection to those who have lived and served before us.
Afterwards, the group entered into a quiet and grace-filled time during Holy Hour and Confession, followed by the Angelus and Holy Mass. These moments of stillness helped everyone to pause and open their hearts to God. Lunch was shared in a spirit of fellowship, with conversations and laughter that strengthened the bond among the pilgrims.
In the afternoon, the journey continued to the Church of the Holy Name of Mary in Permatang Tinggi. The parish welcomed them with kindness, and the group learned about the church’s background and mission. Many spent time in personal prayer, giving thanks for the blessings of the day. The pilgrimage ended with tea and light refreshments, leaving everyone content and grateful for the experience.
More than a trip, the pilgrimage was a reminder that faith is a shared journey. Through prayer, friendship, and discovery, the group experienced what it means to walk together in hope. One pilgrim described feeling spiritually renewed and thankful for the grace of community. The Senior Citizens Ministry hopes to continue this spirit of unity in future gatherings, including their upcoming Christmas get-together, as they journey on together in faith and joy.
