Experiencing and Sharing Mary’s Unconditional Love

On the 2nd day of Triduum mass, Fr. Louis Loi, shared his experience of Mary’s unconditional love. Fr. Louis related a story of a young illegal migrant girl who risked being caught during the pandemic to save her injured boyfriend. He said unconditional love is when you put love above yourself and sacrifice yourself for the good of the other.

He said the Pharisees were too preoccupied with the law. In contrast, Jesus is all about love and gives life. He heals a man on Sabbath (Lk 6: 6-11).

He explained that Mary’s unconditional love is evident from the scene of annunciation when she willingly accepted the will of God to be the Mother of Jesus. When she heard her cousin was expecting, with all humility she went to help her; while at the wedding in Cana, Mary was observant and sensitive to the needs of others.

In his life too, Fr. Louis relied on Mother Mary to see him through difficult times and times of danger. He added that we need to have a relationship with Mary to know her and learn from her and experience unconditional love.

At the end of the celebration, Fr. Dom thanked and presented a token to Fr. Louis for being instrumental in the planning of the restoration of the church when he was the assistant parish priest.

Fr. Dom also explained that the symbol at the centre of the altar, on the priest’s chair and lector’s podium is the Jerusalem cross (Pilgrim’s Cross). The centre cross represents Jesus and the other four crosses are the four corners of the earth or the four apostles. – SR
