Essence of Well-being

Some secrets are meant to be shared, on 12th September about 10 am, Gerard Koe, a Family Counsellor from Melbourne shared the secrets to holistic living via zoom and FB to 45 participants.  Inspired by Craig Hassed’s book on the Essence of Health: The Seven Pillars of Well-being; Gerard shared a few key areas to pay attention to have a better life. The E.S.S.E.N.C.E does not guarantee well-being but it does improve one’s quality of life:

E Educate oneself continuously to experience growth. If you do not grow- you would feel life is wasting away. Need to develop ourselves to bring out the innate potential and expand our consciousness. One needs to have willingness to develop and grow.

S Stress –One also needs to identify the sources of stress and manage it. Poor management of stress could weaken our immune system and create many health problems. Mindfulness is good method to alleviate stress.

S Spirituality is a relationship with our creator. One needs to take time to pray, meditate and contemplate. The quiet time with the Lord replenishes the soul and helps you to know yourself. As Socrates has said- “an unexamined life is not worth living” and “to know thyself is the beginning of wisdom”. The inner stillness unites our soul with God and it then as in the words of St Paul “it is no longer I that live, but Christ liveth in me” Gal 2:20.

E Exercise is necessary for one to have healthy and pain free life. Apart from aerobic exercise that flushes out toxin, muscular skeletal exercises are also necessary to strengthen the muscle.

N Nutrition requires planning and right intake of food.

C Connection, as social beings we need to be connected and feel loved.

E Environment, a good, clean and tidy environment brings good and positive energy.
