Christmas ‘Lepak’ Night

The youth of NBVM organized an event called ‘Lepak Night’ for youths between the ages of 13-21 of our parish on the 16th of December at the Church of Sts. Chastan and Imbert, Chai Leng Park. The event was aimed at bringing the youths together to get to know one another so that they could journey together spiritually and also have fun.

About 40 youths participated in this event. The team in charge of food had already started preparing and barbequing the food as early as 5pm for the fellowship which was scheduled to begin at 7pm. The night began with an opening prayer by the Paris Priest, Rev. Fr. Dom. He shared Christmas is a time for joy and the gathering was meant to bring this joy to one another. He also explained  about the 3 comings of Jesus which are his birth, resurrection and second coming. Then, he invited the youths to share how they are prepare and celebrate Christmas.

This was followed by a fellowship after Father had blessed the food. While all who attended filled themselves with the hearty meal, the music team entertained us with some songs. After everyone had eaten the youths were divided into two teams in order to have a small game of charades. Before the night came to an end, everyone gathered together to sing a number of Christmas carols led by the music team. After a group photo, everyone pitched in to clean up the compound. Through this event, the youths managed to gain exposure, make new friends and have fun in a relaxing environment.( by Nikeisha Marien Prakash)
