Movie Night: “I can only Imagine”

As part of the advent activity, there was a screening of the movie “I can only imagine” on 19 th December at the SCIC Conference Hall.  It is a true story of the life of Bart Millard the song writer and his long journey of brokenness, pain, faith and liberation. He suffers abuse and pain under his father who himself is a broken man. Things become even harder for little Bart when his mum leaves them. His only source of inspiration and strength were the Christian songs especially by Amy Grant that give him the strength to face each day. The movie reveals the following:

The world eventually breaks you down but when you hold on the Father in heaven, knowing he loves you, it will help you get through even through the darkest times of your lives.

When the world tells you that you are not good enough and your dreams are just dreams, you don’t quit but strive to achieve it. Just do your best as you may never know what tomorrow holds.

God can work miracles and transform even monsters into heroes.

It is also a story about forgiveness and letting go of past hurts that liberates the soul.

It was an inspirational movie and although the crowd was small, the message was clear. Each went home with a lesson learned from the movie. Fr. Dom, the Parish Priest hopes to have the movie night as monthly activity to inspire the parishioners and help them grow in faith.
