Homily

Rev. Fr. Julius Paul said that the birthday of Mother Mary is very special because it is the birthday of our model.  For non-Catholics, Mother Mary has always been a cause for contention and we have been accused of worshiping her. He clearly said that we do not worship her but devote this day to venerate her.

Here he emphasized on the traits of Mary, a mother and model for purity, humility and Christianity: Purity because she came from a humble beginning and remained pure and chaste. We are sometimes tempted to take short cuts that compromises our purity. Today she is teaching us to be pure, he said.

Humility because Jesus is the son of God and even though she is the mother of God she could have enjoyed privileges, authority and power. She did not use her position for herself but instead humbly accepted her role in the background.

Christianity because she accepted instructions and lived according to the teachings and emphasized on Jesus. She kept everything in her heart and dedicated her life for the will of God. He urged all to keep Mary as a model they want to follow God.

Blessing of those called to Holiness
