Day 8 – Do Not Judge

Homily

Fr. Louis in his homily focused on two points:

  1. Do not Judge

The “Lord alone is my (our) judge” 1Cor 4: 1-5 and so we are not to judge others. He explained that in the second reading Lk 5: 33-39, when the Pharisees judged the disciples of Jesus, they made tradition a commandment instead of love. He said that we too practice abstaining from meat on Fridays, but is it valid? He explained that eating seafood is more expensive today. We need to look at our intention?  He also explained that the Pharisees did not know Jesus was- the “bridegroom” and that is why they kept on condemning Jesus.

He then stressed that we are not to judge single parents especially the ones who are divorced. We do not know what they have been through.

2. Be Adaptable

We need to be open to the changes God brings into our lives. There is always place for the old and new. Jesus wants us to be adaptable and ready to fast and feast. We should not lose the joy of our faith. We need to bring this joy to others.

He concluded with the following reflection:

How can I be more flexible to what Jesus is offering me?

Blessing of the single parents.

Fr. Louis and Fr. Dom blessed all the single parents.
