Palm Sunday- Love in Action
This week, Palm Sunday we relive the entire passion of Christ. Fr. Martin explained that in the passion of Christ, we see Jesus as the suffering servant who puts love into action. His death was not in vain but rather won us our salvation.
What is love in action? Fr. Martin narrated a story of a little girl who sacrificed her portion of the money so that her brother could enjoy the petting zoo. Their dad had given them each 50 cents to have access to the petting zoo but since the entry fee was a dollar, the little girl gave up her 50 cents to allow her brother the chance- for her it was love in action. Fr. Martin said that for love to be real it must be sacrificial and empty us of ourselves.
In Mark 14: 3, this woman who “came with an alabaster jar of very expensive perfume, made of pure nard. She broke the jar and poured the perfume on his head” – she broke open everything she had.
What is our love in action? We are called to put love in action just as the suffering servant- Jesus who sacrificed His life for us. Are we ready to break open our lives to love as Christ did? – SR
