Feast Day-Gifts of Hope, Help and Healing
The mass was concelebrated by Rev. Fr. Julius Paul with Rev. Fr. Francis Andrew , Rev. Fr. Nicholas Sarawut and Rev. Fr. Dominic Santhiyagu. The congregation wore red to show unanimity in the parish.
Homily
Fr. Julius asked “how would you feel if you were the deaf man in the Gospel of Mark 7: 31-37?” Surely embarrassed because of the impediment in speech. So Jesus took him aside to heal him. Here, he said that God is giving us three things: hope, help and healing.
Fr. Julius explained that if you believe in the power and person of Jesus, there is always hope. Even if we are a lost sheep, Jesus is the answer, our solution and our savior.
God always sends us a helping hand, like the friends of the deaf man who brought him to Jesus. We are not alone, Jesus always helps and redeems us.
Jesus did not fail the deaf man, he received what he prayed and hoped for. Jesus is always there for us, never tired of listening and seeking us out. All he wants of us is to be sorry for our sins. On this feast day, Mary serves as the model of hope, help and healer.
