The Senior Citizens Bring Hope!
On 26 March 2025, the Senior Citizens Ministry brought warmth, laughter, and joy to the elderly at Naomi Homeless Shelter in Butterworth. Their Lenten Mission of Hope: Caring for Our Elderly outreach was a heartwarming success, filled with smiles, music and shared moments of love.
The event kicked off at 11:00 AM with an uplifting speech by ministry leader Mr. Stephen Francis. He thanked the generous donors, dedicated volunteers, and compassionate caretakers who made this mission possible. With heartfelt appreciation, he also gave thanks to God for His blessings. Mr. Francis then presented a remembrance plaque to the caretaker and handed over essential supplies for the elderly.
The real fun began as the elderly got into the spirit of friendly competition, playing games and winning prizes. The energy soared when the group broke into song, singing a mix of familiar favourites including Country Roads. Hands clapped, voices rose, and smiles lit up the room as music filled the air. A delicious lunch, generously sponsored by the Senior Citizens Ministry, brought everyone together in fellowship.
Before wrapping up, the shelter’s caretaker led a talk and Q&A session, offering valuable insights. As the day came to a close, the group gathered for photos, cherishing the special moments shared. The smiles, laughter, and joyful claps of the elderly made it clear that this event was more than just a gathering; it was a celebration of love and community.
And the mission doesn’t stop here! More events are on the horizon as we continue to embrace the Jubilee Year of Hope, guided by the themes shared by Fr. Dom at the Pastoral Assembly. The Senior Citizens Ministry is just getting started—stay tuned for what’s next! (Senior Citizens Ministry)
A very worthwhile project. Couldn’t go today to help but glad to have participated in other ways. Glad that we as Catholics have assisted to bring joy to others as well.
God bless 🙏
