From Knowing to Believing
In his recent homily, Fr. Dom highlighted a crucial aspect of our faith journey: the importance of not just knowing about Jesus, but truly developing a relationship with Him. As Christians, we may assume we know who Jesus is, but we are challenged to go deeper.
Fr. Dom offered three key ways to build and strengthen our relationship with Jesus:
Know Who Jesus Is: While we may be familiar with Jesus’ story, we are encouraged to continually deepen our understanding through Scripture and reflecting on His teachings and actions.
Believe in His Grace: Believe that Jesus’ grace is sufficient to forgive all our sins, no matter how grave. This belief is fundamental to our faith and allows us to approach Jesus with open hearts, ready to receive His love and forgiveness. As Ephesians 1:7 says, “In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God’s grace.”
Be Witnesses to Others: We are called to be the salt and light of the world. By living out our faith and sharing our experiences of Jesus’ love and grace, we not only strengthen our own relationship with Him but also invite others to know Him. As Jesus teaches in Matthew 5:13-16, “You are the salt of the earth… You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden… Let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.”
We are called not just to know about Jesus, but to believe in Him wholeheartedly. This belief should transform our lives and relationships, making our faith a living, active force in the world.
As we reflect on this message, let us ask ourselves: How can we deepen our relationship with Jesus this week? How can we be better witnesses to His love and grace in our community?
