Divine Mercy is God Reaching Out to Us in Our Darkness
Divine Mercy is God reaching down to us in our brokenness and our mess, our sin, our guilt, our suffering and pouring out His mercy and compassion to help us. Thus in the midst of all the darkness, He becomes our light, our hope and our joy.
“There is nothing that man needs more than Divine Mercy, that love which is benevolent, which is compassionate, which raises man above his weakness to the infinite heights of the holiness of God.” Pope John Paul II
Once when St Faustina was under so much suffering, she prayed, “Do what You will with me. O Jesus”. With that act of submission, she felt the torments leave her. “The graces of My mercy are drawn by means of one vessel only, and that is — trust. The more a soul trusts, the more it will receive.” — Diary, 1578
Pope John Paul II said that “anyone … who can look at the image of the merciful Jesus, His heart radiating grace and hear in the depths of his own soul what St. Faustina heard “Fear nothing I am with you always” ( diary 586) and respond sincerely “Jesus I trust in you” will find comfort in their anxiety and fear”.
Let us take time to look at the image of our merciful Christ and be consoled that He is always with us. Let the words of trust flow from within our hearts ” Jesus I trust in you”.
