Easter Triduum Memories: Holy Thursday

The Easter Triduum begins with Holy Thursday where it commemorates the institution of the Holy Eucharist and Priesthood.

During mass, the presentation of the Holy Oils takes place- Oil of the sick (pure olive oil used in the Sacrament of Anointing of the Sick), Oil of Catechumens ( used in the initiation of the RCIA candidates in the beginning process) and Chrism oil (olive oil mixed with balsam representing the ‘aroma of Christ’ used during the Sacrament of Confirmation).

After the celebration of the mass, the faithful gather to spend time with the Lord in adoration of the Blessed Sacrament recalling the agony of Jesus in Gethsemane.
