Take Courage
This week, Jesus reminds us to have courage in the midst of our difficulties and hardships, “Take courage, it is I; do not be afraid”(Mat 14:27). Courage also known as fortitude is a gift of the holy spirit and a cardinal virtue.
Fortitude is the moral virtue that ensures firmness in difficulties and constancy in the pursuit of the good. It strengthens the resolve to resist temptations and to overcome obstacles in the moral life.(1808 CCC)
During the fourth watch;the darkest hour of the night-the disciples must have felt so weary after a long battle with the strong wind and sea, Jesus comes to his disciples. In our life’s battles too, we should take courage to persevere because Christ is always there looking out for us.
We all need courage to face daily difficulties- courage to do the right thing, courage to resist temptations, courage to forgive, courage to conquer fear and face daily trials.
