“Listen to Him”
This week, Peter, John and James see the true identity of Jesus in the transfiguration of our Lord that takes place at Mt. Tabor ( Mat 7: 1-9). “This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased; listen to him” (Mat 7:5).
In breaking the word, Fr. Raymond explained that the transfiguration reminds us that our duty as disciples is to listen to Jesus and follow His in his footsteps. Being a Sunday Catholic and doing good works alone does not promise our way to heaven. Only Jesus is our way to heaven. We have to be a witness of Christ- live our faith for the world to see. True witnessing is when we live our faith in the messiness of the world.
Going to church does not make you a Christian, no more than standing in a garage makes you a car .
