Fire Drill Exercise
BUTTERWORTH – A fire drill exercise was conducted on Sunday, 25th June for all 3 language group Catechism children and teachers of NBVM. Rev. Fr. Dominic, had requested for a preliminary fire drill to be conducted as it is crucial for them to be aware on how to evacuate safely from their respective classrooms in the event of an emergency, such as the outbreak of a fire.
Mr. Paul Low was involved in coordinating the fire drills due to his experience in the area of safety and health. The fire drills were conducted successfully thanks to the cooperation from the 3 language group Catechism coordinators and the teachers. Further, Mr. Paul Low had also briefed all catechism teachers prior to the fire drill exercise to inform them of the safe assembly areas.
The fire drill was conducted for Tamil speaking group at 9:20 a.m., Mandarin speaking at 10:20 a.m. and finally for the English group at 11:30 a.m. respectively. The safe assembly areas allotted for the Catechism children & teachers were at the area in front of the Sacristy for primary school children and the area near the Glass House for secondary school children.
All the teachers escorted their students safely and swiftly to their respective assembly areas in a line. Once arrived, they took the attendance to ensure that no children were left behind.
