Blessing and Re-dedication of the Shrine of Our Lady of Fatima
Many prayers have been answered through her intercession – in thanksgiving to Our Lady of Fatima, Fr. Dom had intended to build a beautiful shrine to honour her for the miracle experienced in his life. The dream came true when donors Dato’S. Selvakumar and Ens family intended to honour Our Lady for miracles in their lives too. On 23 July 2023, the statue of Our Lady of Fatima was reinstated at her original location but in a newly built shrine. After the 9 am mass, Fr. Dom along with servers, flower girls and the congregation walked in a procession carrying our Lady from the glass house to the beautiful new shrine.
Fr. Dom, during the rite of the blessing, read the story of the Miracle at Cana (Jn2: 1-11). He said that our Lady interceded on behalf of the couple at the wedding and “you can be assured of her interceding for us when we come to her seeking her aid”. He experienced his miracle in 2012 while in Fatima, Portugal as he was in the procession seeking Our Lady’s intercession. He had not even completed the procession when his prayers were answered;a donor offered to sponsor the PDYD project under his leadership. He said that when we come to her with trust, she will intercede for us.
He added that the beautiful shrine is meant to be a place of prayer and solace for those who come to spend time with Our Lady and Jesus. He thanked the donors who are not Catholics but have also experienced miracles in their lives through her intercession. He believes that many will also experience miracles in their lives as he has, through Our Lady’s intercession.
The feast of Our Lady of Fatima is celebrated on 13 May every year. Our lady of Fatima is the title given to Mary after she appeared to three children – Lucia, Francisco and Jacinta in Fatima, Portugal in 1917. She is also known as the Lady of the Holy Rosary.
