NBVM Family Day 2023: A Celebration of Love and Friendship in Diversity
The whole parish gathered as one big family to celebrate the parish Family Day at NBVM Church on Sunday 28th May 2023, which was also Pentecost Sunday. The event was jointly organised by the Mandarin and Tamil Apostolates, with support from the interim Parish Pastoral Council.
Parishioners started trickling into the church bright and early for Rosary and Mass, which began at 7.30 am. Following Mass, everyone adjourned to Nativity Hall for breakfast and fun activities lined up by the organising team.
A selection of food and drinks were available, all kindly contributed by various ministries and BECs, and served by cheerful volunteers. After a hearty breakfast, the parishioners were ready to take part in the activities. There were station games, where four-person teams navigated through 12 stations to complete mental and physical challenges. Those who remained in the hall were entertained with singing, dancing, and indoor games. There was Zumba, line dancing and Indian dance to keep everyone on their feet moving to the catchy tunes.
There was also a gift redemption station, where the parishioners could exchange points accumulated from participating in the activities for treats of their choice. A highlight of the day was undoubtedly the ice cream truck, which had a steady stream of people claiming their soft serve ice cream for 10 points each.
The day’s activities concluded with lunch, lucky draw and announcement of the station games winners. It was truly a beautiful day of fun and fellowship, with parishioners from diverse backgrounds coming together as one family of God. Laughter and cheer rang out throughout the day as young and old alike eagerly participated in the activities.
We thank God for this wonderful gift of our parish and ask the Blessed Mother, our patroness, to intercede for the continued growth of love and solidarity among us.
