High Praise: I Can Do All Things Through Christ Who Strengthens Me
A night of praise and worship by the English-speaking youth on 9 October was a spirit-filled experience for all those who attended. The youths beautifully led the congregation of about 30 people into prayer and worship. The atmosphere at the Nativity Conference Room was prayerful as the congregation began to lift up their voices in praise.
“We walk by faith, not by sight.” (2 Corinthians 5:7) said Fr. Dom during the reflection and sharing session. “When we are burdened by troubles, run to God”, he said. “Go and pour out your troubles to him”. He talked about how Naaman went in search of Elisha- a prophet of God to be healed.
Next, we live by the word – “give your attention to prayer and the ministry of the word” (Acts 6:4). He said, when we live by the word, we are strengthened and empowered.
Subsequently, we need to profess our faith as Thomas did. Thomas doubted, but Christ revealed himself to Him and gave him assurance. Thomas declared “my Lord and My God” (Jn 20:28).
After we have professed we have to surrender to God. Jesus surrendered himself to the Father completely and accepted His will.
Lastly, we stay on course ( Lk 24) just as the disciples after they met Jesus on the Road to Emmaus, they stayed on course in continuing the ministry of Christ. St. Monica prayed for 17 years for Augustine without giving up hope. Her prayers were not wasted- Augustine gave his life in service of God and became a saint. St. Monica despite all the difficulties she faced, stayed on course praying and living the word of God. Fr. Dom, urged the congregation to stay on course no matter how bad the situation may be because we as Christians walk by faith and not by sight.
The praise and worship session concluded with some refreshments and fellowship.
