A Dream Come True on New Year’s Day
It was a memorable first day of the New Year and the Solemnity of Mary, Mother of God when Bishop Sebastian officially opened and blessed the Nativity Centre. It was a dream come true for all parishioners of the NBVM/SCIC parish when the long-awaited moment became a reality.
Bishop Sebastian presided over the celebration of the New Year mass with Fr. Dom and Fr. Martin. Also present was seminarian, Bro. Desmond Jansen. In his homily, Bishop Sebastian said that Mary pondered and treasured everything that happened in her life. We too should ponder and treasure both the good and the bad. To ponder is to question why things happened because we do not understand why it happened whereas to treasure is to accept it as a grace of God. We may choose to ponder or treasure all that has happened in our lives.
After mass, the blessing of the Nativity Centre took place. Tony Edwards, the chairperson of the Building Committee thanked everyone for making this dream come true. He thanked Fr. Dom especially for the encouragement and push they needed to complete the project.
