Confirmands Asked to Journey Together on Their Mission
On 12th December, 25 youths were confirmed in by the Parish Priest Fr. Dominic and Assistant Parish Priest Fr. Konstend. The youths had journeyed through online classes and virtual camp in preparation for this special day.
In his homily, Fr. Dom asked the youths “what is your mission?” He said, “you have a mission, to be on track, look for a guide to direct you towards Christ”.
He then told a story of a young girl who lost her earring. Having searched around and not finding it, she sought the help of her mum. Her mother began looking for it and found it. The girl was delighted and curious that her mum managed to find it. Her mum responded that the earring was a costly jewel that she had invested in and so she was determined in finding it.
Fr. Dom reminded them that we all need guides to lead us to Christ and advised them to have a conviction and be resolute.
He also added that there are three lessons to be learned today from the Gospel when the crowd asked John, “what must we do? “ He asked the youths to do the following:
- Be charitable – if you do not have means to provide, be charitable in words and deed.
- Be content with what you have and with who you are- you are God’s creation and has made you for a purpose. Do not choose to be somebody you are not. Accept yourself as you are and keep growing.
- Be faithful in all that you do to God.
At the end of the mass, Fr. Dom invited the confirmands to journey with him for the next 6 months. He said it is imperative that we journey as a community – to support each other and to walk in our mission.
