Be Grateful for the Family We Have
The Holy family is an epitome of Christian faith and holiness. Joseph, a righteous man whose heart is set on protecting his family and listening to the promptings of God. Mary who say ‘yes’ to God and Jesus an obedient child.
Our families may not be perfect as the holy family however the celebration of the Feast of the Holy family is not a celebration of perfection but rather a celebration of holiness said Fr. Dom. Holiness is responding to God’s call and following His will. The feast of the Holy family also reminds us to be grateful for the family we have. The family may be filled with a lot of imperfections and weakness but we are called to walk in faith and love in this family that God has given us. “Be grateful to our parents and pray for our children who have gone errant”, urged Fr. Dom.
Deacon Konstend in his sermon asked “What do you see when at you look at other families or your own family? Are they good models?”. He said for a family to grow and to be a model – you need Jesus to be born in the family. With Jesus in our midst we would be able to make the journey with all the trials like Joseph and Mary did.
We may not have a perfect family but we have a perfect model to follow
We may not have a perfect family but we have a perfect model to follow. As we take small steps towards holiness, we can ask for intercession of the Holy Family to help us along this journey. – SR
We live in an imperfect world, family, community, country, etc. and we have to learn to accept each others’ imperfections and make the best out of it, focusing on Jesus always as we strive to be better persons.
As 2020 comes to an end, I reminisce about the challenges faced n I’m truly thankful to God for my family n friends. Prayers, advice n support from loved ones will cushion any fall…n I believe make us stronger. Hold on to your loved ones, appreciate them, tell them ‘i love u’ n forget trivial matters. At the same time, I’m truly proud to be part of this church. Fr has reached out and made the effort to ensure that this Christmas not necessarily be a sombre one. Special mention to the leaders of nbvm/scic…you know who you are. Your sincerity n dedication is second to none. You are great role models. God bless us all.
