Senior Citizens Day

The senior citizens day celebration was held at the Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary on  12 October in conjunction with the Universal Senior Citizens Day celebration. The mass was coordinated by the senior citizens and the fellowship organized by the Family Life Ministry.

Homily

In his homily, Fr. Dom, reiterated the first line from the psalm 110:1-6, “I will thank the Lord with all my heart”  adding that as one reaches the golden age one has to think what he or she has to thank God for. He asked the senior citizens “what do you want to thank God for?” Old age is the time to be calm and lead a saintly life. It is time to be loving, gentle, kind and peaceful instead of being grumpy and hateful. He asked the senior citizens to make life beautiful for the grandchildren and their children. He said thank God for all that you have for ‘great are the works of the Lord; to be pondered by all of them.” He said that many of our friends have left us and what we have now can also be taken away. So be grateful for what we have.
