NBVM Novena Day 2: Children
For the 2nd day of Novena with the theme Children, Rosary and Mass was animated by Catechism children. The main celebrant was Fr Ryan followed by co-celebrant Fr Andrew Manickam. Fr began by offering the day’s mass for children who are blessings in every family and also for all of us who are children of the Father.
In his homily, Fr mentioned that children are always a blessing and in scripture, large families are specially mentioned as divinely blessed. Fr also quoted Amoris Laetitia on the blessing that children are loved even before they arrive. However, some have made the error of rejecting the gift of children through abortion which they need to seek forgiveness from God and the aborted child and receive healing. Fr also stated that many children are born into the world but are neglected or orphaned. He said that adoption is a way to share the gift of family, teach virtues to abandoned and neglected children and is something for couples to discern.
Finally, Fr explained that children are good whereby the church and the world need children to continue. He concluded by praying that children will be nurtured to become good Christians and do well in whatever they are called to be.
