No one who would ever admit that they had never suffered. But … how many out there embrace their sufferings and turn their sufferings to a redemptive one. Many accept their suffering because it is God’s will (i.e what to do I can’t help it?) but there are some, who embrace their sufferings and see hope in prayers or see kindness & love in those who care for them. Every pain we endure with love, every cross borne with resignation, benefits us in the Mystical Body of Christ. Those who are chosen to bear a greater portion of suffering than others are called by God to heal the souls of many whose lives are bereft of the knowledge and love of God. Redemptive suffering not only helps us poor sinners directly but edifies and consoles our souls as we journey through life striving for holiness. Like Jesus, our sufferings, united to His, rise to Heaven and obtain grace and repentance for those who are straying from God and His Love. In summary, Jesus suffered for us so that we may be redeemed. So we are called to carry our cross by embracing our sufferings in exchange for graces that build our holiness and salvation.
