Experiencing Christ’s Divine Love through Contemplation

This week’s readings (Acts 3: 13, 1 J 2: 1-5 and Lk 24: 35-48) all point to sin, repentance and forgiveness said Fr. Dom. We are urged to repent and turn to God, to keep His commandments and experience the divine love through forgiveness.

What is sin? Sin is turning away from God and repentance is turning back to God explained Fr. Dom.

He related a story of man who visited the church during his lunch break. The man comes into the church spends a few moments looking at the crucifix hung at the altar and then leaves. One day when he was asked what he was doing there, he responded that he looks at God and God looks at him

Fr. Dom explained that faith is not just reciting prayers but being connected to God and being in His presence. For this man, he felt the grace of God simply by gazing at the cross and feeling the gaze of Jesus on him. This is contemplative prayer where God speaks heart to heart – an in depth connection of love and grace.

Fr. Dom said that for us to experience God, we need to just be in His presence.  We will experience His transforming grace and thus become His witness. – SR
